Math News

We are currently working on the graphing unit for Math.
Students are working on taking information and putting it in a graph.
Second graders also need to be able to answer addition and subtraction
questions about the graph.

First graders are working on counting to 100. They will also be working
on writing their numbers to 100.

Folder check

Don't forget to check your child's backpack each night.
Folders need to be returned each day.

Library time

Just a reminder we have library every Thursday for book checkout.

New School Year

Welcome back to those returning second graders.
A beginning of the year welcome to the new first graders and those students that
are new to Northwood.
I am looking forward to a great school year.
Beginning September 12 we will be starting Reading and Math groups.
I will be teaching a 1st/2nd grade split Math class. This means I will actually be
teaching 2 different Math classes within our one class. I will be having an aide to
help with our lessons. I am looking forward to this adventure.
So our class will stay with me for Math.
Reading groups will have some of the students move to either Mrs. Rivard or Mrs. Rizzolo.
We are currently working at setting up this groups.

Texas Vacation

My husband and I are spending our spring break with my parents in Rio Hondo, TX, (near Brownsville).
Today we went to a nature preserve. I was trying to take a picture of some Texas frogs. Well one of the jump out of the pond at me. The next thing you know I hear a hissing sound and see an alligator coming after me. Apparently, I missed the sign that said there was an alligator in this pond.

MACUL conference

This past week I attend the MACUL computer conference in Detroit. I had to give a short presentation on the grant I received in 2009. The grant allowed me to get 3 small keyboards and a printer for our classroom.
